~ Defiance ~

Defiance (n.) a challenging attitude or behavior

Do you remember your first encounter with defiance as an adult? Do you remember the first time that you were defiant as an adult? Did you hold more guilt than you did as a child not listening when your parent had already told you "no"? Every human has witnessed or shown defiance at some point in their life. Although, some actions are much greater than others, the lasting wound can be just as great. Is it healthy to be defiant? Are there any benefits for you or the person whom is on the receiving end? This all depends on the level - as mentioned, the wound can be just as great - but is this a form of confrontation or just challenging someone's opinion? Some of the greatest minds to ever live became known because they challenged someone else's reason. If they had not been 'defiant', their name would not have the same ring when heard around the world. Tom Sawyer, Albert Einstein, DaVinci. Go ahead and challenge policy from time to time. Go ahead and question someone's decision. It may just be the best thing you've ever done for yourself. Sitting back and accepting something that you do not completely agree with won't get you any further than you are today. So let me pose the question again - Is it healthy to be defiant?
